Emergency work completed

Emergency work to stabilise the highway and surrounding land at Jiggers Bank has been completed by McPhillips and this important tourist route is now fully open providing easy access into Coalbrookdale and the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage site over the summer period. Telford and Wrekin Council were forced to close the busy road into the Ironbridge Gorge following a second landslide which occurred in December 2012 and McPhillips were subsequently appointed to carry out the 12 week contract in April 2013. The work involved moving over 10,000m3 of material to create a 200m long 1:1.5° batter with vertical access required to install 40nr 6m long anchor bolts and a 200m long 1.2m high catchment fence.
