As part of our commitment to supporting and investing in our local community, we have a longstanding relationship with Telford College to deliver opportunities for learners via our in-house Apprenticeship scheme.
Last week, our Safety,Training & Quality Manager Stuart Bishop was on-hand to explain what McPhillips can offer Telford students, and how a combination of education and practical application of valuable skills can help them build a sustainable career in the construction industry.
Stuart is passionate about helping the next generation, and says; “I am a qualified CITB Construction Ambassador, and am often asked to attend such events, talk to young people and offer guidance. McPhillips are good at developing youngsters into professional people. We have many, many examples, having taken on Apprentices for 20 years.”
McPhillips sees great benefits from its investment in people and is proud of the fact that over 20% of its current workforce are graduates of our Apprenticeship scheme. Managing Director Paul Inions says, “This training scheme gives these young people a great start in life. With their qualifications they can work on any construction site in the country.”
