Last Friday, a team of four intrepid souls set out for the Pengwern Boat Club on the River Severn – after a 3 year absence due to Covid, the Coracle World Championship was back on!
A 48-team event dedicated to raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, the 2022 edition saw our shipmates Kieran Shaw, Tony Vrahimis, Mike Evans and Finola Corley determined to be their best in front of the crowds.
Sterling performances in the heats saw us through to the final, in which the oarsome foursome were keeping pace with the eventual winners – until disaster struck and an early bath beckoned!
All in all, a brilliant day, and a pleasure to be participating back in this local fundraising extravaganza – we’ll aim to be back for a podium placement next year.
